Description
Sertraline belongs to a class of antidepressants known as SSRIs, and is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and social anxiety disorder. Generic sertraline is thought to work by increasing the activity of a chemical in the brain known as serotonin; in alcoholism, this drug may decrease other central nervous system-related factors associated with craving and/or motivation to drink.
Original uses (on-label)
Treatment of major depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, social anxiety disorder.
Newly discovered uses (off-label)
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, alcohol dependence, Alzheimer's disease, bulimia, childhood anxiety, chronic fatigue syndrome, nocturnal enuresis, premature ejaculation, seasonal affective disorder.

Cautions
  • If you want to order Sertraline without prescription, you must remember this. Do not take sertraline within 14 days of taking a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor. Cases of serious, sometimes fatal reactions have been reported in patients taking Zoloft in combination with a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor. Symptoms include extremely high fever, rigidity, myoclonus (shock-like muscle contractions), rapid vital sign fluctuations, confusion, irritability, extreme agitation progressing to delerium and coma.
  • Use Zoloft cautiously with terfenadine, astemizole or cisapride.
  • Exercise caution if you have a history of seizures, a recent heart attack, unstable heart disease, liver or kidney dysfunction or platelet problems.
Drug interactions
MAO inhibitors (such as phenelzine, isocarboxazid, or linezolid), selegiline, warfarin, cimetidine, linezolid, metoclopramide, sibutramine, tramadol, phenytoin, l-tryptophan, tricyclic antidepressants (such as amitriptyline, nortriptyline, imipramine, etc.), benzodiazepines (such as diazepam, flurazepam, temazepam, etc.), carbamazepine, clozapine, lithium, NSAIDs, pimozide, tolbutamide, glimepiride, sumatriptan, zolpidem.
Food interactions
May be given with or without food. Avoid alcohol.
Herbal interactions
Valerian, St. John's wort, SAMe, kava kava.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding cautions
Women who are pregnant should consult their doctor before buying Zoloft online. Pregnancy category C; excretion into breast milk unknown, use caution in nursing mother.
Zoloft and Seasonal Affective Disorder
The International Collaborative Group on Sertraline in the Treatment of Outpatients With Seasonal Affective Disorder conducted a study evaluating this drug in 187 outpatients with seasonal pattern recurrent winter depression. Results from this study showed that zoloft produced a significantly greater response than placebo. Additionally, more sertraline-treated patients achieved a response greater than those in the placebo-treated group.

This drug was well tolerated; the most frequent adverse events were nausea, diarrhea, insomnia, and dry mouth. Researchers concluded that sertraline offers an important treatment option in the management of seasonal affective disorder. This drug may be particularly useful if you do not tolerate, cannot comply with, or are unresponsive to phototherapy.
Premature Ejaculation treatment
Several studies indicate that selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), such as sertraline, are safe and effective to treat premature ejaculation. You can order Zoloft for treatment of this condition. Many doctors use SSRIs precisely for premature ejaculation. Overall, according to research at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio, SSRIs have shown the most success in delaying PE.

With generic zoloft, improvement in premature ejaculation may not occur until at least three weeks after the treatment is started. If no improvement is noticed after six weeks of treatment, or if adverse effects become troublesome, this drug should be discontinued. Besides sexual side effects, use of this drug may result in sour stomach, belching, decreased appetite or weight loss, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, and dry mouth, among others. In a clinical study of 46 men with premature ejaculation, zoloft daily delayed ejaculation with the fewest side effects. With a higher dose of sertraline daily, ejaculation was delayed even further, but at the higher dose, two men experienced side effects such as drowsiness, appetite loss, and upset stomach. Researchers found that increasing the dose of sertraline increased the drug’s efficacy in delaying ejaculation. Other study results suggest that zoloft can be taken on an "as-needed basis" and within a few hours before sexual contact.
What is Sertraline?
This drug inhibits the reuptake of serotonin at the neuron and thus increases the levels of serotonin in the body and in the brain. Serotonin is a chemical that affects mood levels.
